The Great Circle Fund L.P. Alfa Capital Partners is Regional Manager and Limited Partner of the U.S. OPIC sponsored fund The Great Circle Fund L.P., a US$161 million infrastructure fund.
The Funds mandate is to invest in transportation, transport infrastructure, logistics, maritime service companies and offshore energy support services. The primary geographic focus includes Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, the Caucasus states, the Balkan states and other FSU countries, Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic States and Turkey.
Investment Strategy
The Funds investments are typically in the US$25-30 million range for equity or quasi-equity securities.
The deal types include:
- growth capital
- management buyout / leveraged buyout
- recapitalization
- acquisition financing
The strategy of the Fund is to invest in companies positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for transportation and infrastructure provision and offshore energy services in these regions. Recently adopted regional Russian infrastructure development policies and the overall growing demand for improved infrastructure in the region creates significant opportunities for the Fund.
The portfolio companies will have a proven management team, a sound track record, and a clearly defined growth strategy. Where appropriate and with the agreement of the portfolio company, the Fund will assist in the introduction of external managers or service providers to contribute new expertise to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
